I come at the art of photography from a slightly different background than many. True, I have spent years learning behind a camera, starting with film and then moving onto digital, but my bachelor’s degree is in history, and that education gave me an incredible amount of respect for how we process our present to preserve it for our future — photographs really do matter in helping to tell a person or family’s story, and I feel very strongly that it’s important to be a full-service photographer providing prints to my clients so those memories and stories can be preserved for generations to come. Who you are is important, and it is important to preserve your memories in a form that will be around more permanently than Facebook and CD drives.
I love photographing all sorts of people, and capturing their special moments. There’s so much variety of human experience, and I love it — so much hopeful anticipation involved in engagement and maternity sessions, so much wonder with a newborn session, and amazement when I then get to go back and do a whole series of “baby’s first year” sessions and watch that baby learn and grow. Every family’s interactions are wonderfully individual, and each family session is likewise unique. Babies grow up, and I love working with high school seniors, to see how they have developed their own style. I also love the energy of photographing birthday parties — such a wonderful time to celebrate another year gone by. Head shots are a treat, too — I like helping people come up with an image that will make their LinkedIn (or other) profile more helpful for a job search, or once they’ve landed the job, the perfect headshot for the new company website.
During your session, I will work with you to bring out the best — whether I’m photographing your sweet newborn, or taking a headshot for your company website.
I’m based in Arlington, MA, and am happy to travel within the Greater Boston area. Please contact me through the link on the left to find out more and to schedule!
