What a treat to get to see this family again!  This is the second time I’ve gotten to photograph one of their newborns, and we’ve had some fun family portrait sessions in between babies 🙂   With Covid-19, we had to have a bit of a different plan that we went with for their first newborn session with me — rather than being in their home, they were most comfortable with an outdoor setting.  I was masked the entire time and had both gloves and hand sanitizer for when I was wrapping and posing baby J.  For the family and sibling shots, I kept my distance and used a long lens just as I’ve been doing with the family sessions I’ve been photographing since re-opening this Spring.

It is a wonderful transformation to see kids grow over the years.  When I first met these folks in 2017, they were making the transition from a family of three to a family of four, and their oldest was adjusting to his brand new role as big brother — a big adjustment for any kid, no matter how welcome a new sibling is.  Over the years, I’ve watching big J and B grow — watched their relationship develop and deepen.  And this week, I got to see them go through another major change in their life — welcoming a new little brother to their club.   As a mom of three boys myself, their dynamic during their session touched me particularly — I loved seeing how big J helped B out with holding little J — big J has been there, done that and knows the ropes, and it was so sweet to see him passing along what he’s learned to his little brother as he transitions from youngest to middle.  Here are some of my favorites from our time together:
