What does it look like to have an in-home newborn session in the age of Covid-19?  In many ways, it looks very similar to what pre-covid newborn sessions looked like — just with a few key extra precautions.  Some things are the same as always — all my wraps and baskets are washed and wiped down after every session, and I always wash my hands and use hand sanitizer when I first walk in the door.  These are things I’ve been doing since my very first newborn session, almost six years ago.  In addition, before I even walk in the door — I get a Covid test the day before your newborn session, and go through a screening process (checking temperature and symptoms) before I head out the door to photograph your family.  I now also put disposable booties on my feet so I’m not tracking anything you don’t want through the house, and I have gloves I can wear if you’re more comfortable with that than bare sanitized hands.  I also bring an air purifier we can plug in to help clean the air we work together.  Most importantly of all, I will ALWAYS have my mask on.  Your family’s safety is my highest priority.

What is the same about a newborn session in the middle of a pandemic?  I still capture those family moments and all the details of your new little one with the same care and fun as always.  If big siblings are around, I make sure they feel included and super special during what is a major transition for them.  I still make sure this amazing little person you’ve just brought home is captured in all their adorable-ness so you can remember for years to come when sleep deprivation may cloud some of your memory 🙂

Here’s a recent in-home newborn session I had the pleasure of capturing:
