First Year Program Newborn Portraits | Arlington, MA

Is there anything more exciting than a newborn?  Newborns are my absolute favorite, and this little girl was particularly wonderful to work with.  Almost four weeks old, which is outside of the “usual” range for newborn portraits (seriously, though — is ANYTHING usual this year?) she was a little harder to settle, but once she settled, we had a lovely time!  She loved to be swaddled, so that was our main focus for the session.  With a big brother just returned from a few weeks at the grandparents’ to give mom and baby a little time to recover from the birth, life was feeling a little chaotic for this family, but we found a way to create a small oasis in one of the bedrooms — with gorgeous light, the heat on, and a VERY enthusiastic big brother, I worked to figure out how to keep her happy and capture her newborn-ness for her family.

One of the things I love about starting a First Year Program with a newborn session is that it’s a great chance for me to get to know a family and vice versa — all those nursing breaks we can chat and I find it helps families feel more comfortable with me photographing them — especially in times like this where Covid Precautions are top of mind.  Here are some of my favorites from my time with baby C and her family, and I can’t wait to see them all again in a few months!
