There is a special bond, often, between mother and daughter.  It was a privilege to get to photograph these two in their home and really try to capture that relationship.  One of the things I love most about these sessions is that we don’t have to do anything grand — everyday life is worth capturing and preserving.  And these two have some very special things they do together that really deserve that documentation — they have their very own mother-daughter book club, they have kitchen dance parties on the regular, and they love to cook together.  Even aside from that, they help each other out (some of our time together was spent rehanging a special banner in N’s room), and embrace the whimsical side of life.  “What are some other things you two like to do together?” I asked.  “Oh, we love to draw on the table!” said N.  Draw on the table, I ask my myself — is she just being silly or is this a real thing?  Totally serious — N has such a cool mom, L painted an old coffee table with chalkboard paint and keeps chalk in the attached drawer!  How cool is that?

What are some special things you like or liked to do with your mom?  I’d love to hear about what has made that relationship special for you.  For me, I always loved baking with my mom and knitting with her (I’m very lucky to be able to say we still love doing those things!) Here are some of my favorites of N and L:
