As a parent myself, I know how hard it can be to take the time for portraits with my spouse.  I’m a photographer, and we don’t get in front of the camera NEARLY as often as we should.  Life is super busy, even during a pandemic, and while these folks have tons of photos of their kids, it was time to rectify their lack of portraits of the two of them as a couple.  These two didn’t have a professional photographer at their wedding, and were realizing they didn’t really have any pictures of the two of them.  We wanted to take a pause to celebrate L. and I. and their love for each other.  On a beautiful summer evening, we headed out to Lexington to a stunning meadow and got to work.

I don’t really love stiff couples portraits — we’ll always get at least a few of everyone looking at the camera, but my goal with this type of session is really to capture what these two people mean to each other, aside from the camera in front of their faces (ok, with Covid I’m not getting QUITE as close as I used to — long lenses are my friend for social distancing and keeping everyone safe!).   When we were just about done, we snagged the kids, who had patiently been sitting in the meadow with us, for a few full family shots as well.

Here are a few of my favorites:
