It’s been a hot, humid week here in Eastern Massachusetts. Lucky for us, the humidity cleared overnight, leaving us a beautiful early morning for outdoor family portraits in Woburn with Shari and Mimir and their children. Sunrise sessions are sometimes a tough sell, especially in the summer when the sun is up so early, but I was so glad that these folks were game to try, since we had absolutely lovely light!
One of the things I was super excited about with this portrait session was getting to try out a location that was new to me — this family loves hiking here and suggested it for their portraits. I love that it’s a location that has meaning for them (though we did get to explore an area they hadn’t gotten to explore yet, so that was fun, too!). When they look back on these, they won’t just be looking at how I captured their family, but how much fun they’ve had together there at other times, and these portraits will be evocative of so much more.
Shari and Mimir’s daughter is a budding fashionista according to her mom, and picked out all the family’s outfits — I think she did a phenomenal job, coordinating without too much matching, and with special attention paid to what would make her little brother comfortable (he picked out his hiking boots!). I think Inara should do a guest blog for me here about outfit coordination — she’s clearly got a flair for it — what do you all think 🙂 ? She clearly didn’t need the help of my “what to wear” section in my Family Session Prep Guide 🙂
Outdoor family portraits are some of my very favorite sessions — we can play games and explore and capture some natural moments between family members. Here are my favorite shots from our time together — I hope you love them as much as I do!
