Having a newborn is HARD.  Having a newborn when you also have an older child is HARD.  You know what’s even harder?  All that while there’s also a massive global pandemic going on.  Generally, newborn photographers talk about an “ideal window” for newborn portrait sessions (the classic 4-14 days old).  You know what?  Babies haven’t read that memo.  This little girl certainly hadn’t, since at five weeks old, she was a total dream to work with.  Her big brother was a total cutie and wonderful too — telling me all about his trucks, and I will admit he and I share a love of Daniel Tiger (ok, my four year old is totally obsessed and it’s grown on me 🙂 ).

Having a baby during a pandemic is full of all sorts of its own complications — one is that loved ones who may have wanted to be physically present aren’t able to be there.  During this session, we got to use some gorgeous quilts made by Grandma — as a hand crafter myself (I knit), I loved seeing these beautifully crafted quilts that allowed Grandma to play a role in baby V’s newborn session, even though she couldn’t physically be there herself.

Here are a few of my favorites from our time together:
